Recent Workshops - Eco Dyeing and Feltmaking with Colleen Plank
Colleen Plank held two workshops at her Earth House Studio in Atawhai, Nelson recently.
At Colleenβs Eco Dyeing Workshop, local plants and found materials were used to create subtle colours on cotton, linen, wool and silk fibres, fabrics and paper.Β The next workshop is coming up in MayΒ so reserve your place now.Β
At the Contemporary Feltmaking Workshop, techniques of resists, inlays and embellishments were used to create surface textures into the structure of the felt.Β Colleenβs next Feltmaking Workshop is in July.Β
Harakeke (NZ Flax) Weaving with Evey Weavey
Evey has set dates for her next round ofΒ workshops. Starting with herΒ Beginners JourneyΒ workshop, you can move onto herΒ Weave the Greenest Shopping Basket, EverΒ orΒ Practise, Practise, PractiseΒ workshops before the more complexΒ Traditional MΔori Kete with a Plait in its BaseΒ workshop.
Workshops are held in Inangahua which can be an adventure in itself! For accommodation tryΒ BerlinsΒ in Inangahua or base yourself inΒ ReeftonΒ and enjoy some good local food and hospitality.
Evey has her harakeke creative works currently on display at the Nelson Suter Art Societyβs Autumn Exhibition. While not tutoring at the Go Wild Weaving Weekend held in Golden Bay this year (12 to 13 April), Evey has very experimental art weaving works with eco prints and alternative weaving materials at the Art Vault in TΔkaka.
Screen Printing with Judith Ritchie
We adore the screen prints made by Ann under Judith Ritchieβs guidance. Ann created her own bespoke designs that were translated to paper, t-shirts and a tote bag. Mastering the techniques over a weekend, Ann can now these skills for whatever is next - more creations we hope!
