This is a traditionally woven Kete Whakairo. The colours are set in pattern at the base and develop as I'm weaving up the body.
The plaited handles are a round 4-plait that is securely attached by stitching and binding around the top edge.
From plant to product, this has been created by Evey Weavey aka Yvonne Hammond, in her little studio in Inangahua. Each of her artworks is a unique one-off item.
