New NZTE Workshops
Australian Art & Design Secondary School Tour

In early October we have a group of Australian secondary school art and design students attending NZTE bespoke workshops at Fairfield House.

Maggy J, Sally Reynolds and Renee Clothier are all going to run bespoke one day textile-based workshops and we look forward to sharing photos in the October newsletter.

NZTE can cater for primary and secondary school groups so let us know if you know of any school groups we can tailor workshops for.

Unconventional Textile Materials tutor Maggy Johnston works on a piece of art.

Local Spotlight

Maggy Johnston - NZTE Tutor

Congratulations Maggy Johnson, one of NZTE’s tutors based in Tasman who was the winner in a category called Pink Plaster at the recent Central Otago WoolOn Awards. Maggy created a Mary Quant dress out of pink and black wool-based plasters.

Judges were Liz Mitchell who has been on a very exciting road with her wool revolution and campaign for wool, Margi Robertson designer of ubiquitous label NOM*d, and the lovely Christina Perriam, founder of her luxury merino knitwear brand 'Perriam' .

We attended the Trade Show at Alexandra Museum the day after the Awards and loved the array of wool on show and for sale.  If you love working with wool and can design accessories or fashion make sure you apply for or attend next years awards!
