November Edition

November Edition

Welcome to November 🌱

November is one of our favourite times of year with all the gorgeous flowers and plant growth. So much inspiration - we hope you are getting out and about to enjoy the colour and texture.

Anne Grassham - Country Calendar

On Sunday 24 November, Anne Grassham who we are lucky to have tutor spinning and rug-making workshops, will feature on Country Calendar showcasing her farm and wool related business. This will be a good episode to watch.

Anne is based at Fleecewood in Wai-iti Valley just out of Wakefield, Tasman. We attended a workshop in September and made a heirloom hooked fleece rug, with both tufted and loop pile textures and will keen to attend another wool related workshop soon.

Anne is a distributor for Ashford Wheels and Looms and also sells her own fleece range. Get in touch with us here if you would like to be connected with Anne for her Ashford or fleece products. Better still, book Anne’s December spinning and hook rug making workshops here. While you are work-shopping you can handpick fleece and wool direct from the farm. Anne may even point out one of the sheep the fleece came from when you’re there.

Recent Workshop

Colleen Plank held an Eco Dyeing Workshop - Dyeing Fabrics, Fibres and Paper earlier in the month.  Colleen sent through photos of finished eco-dye designs by Essi (left) and Katrina (right). To confirm a place on Colleen’s next eco-dyeing workshop held at her Earth Studio in Atawhai, Nelson on 9/10 January 2025 - book here.

Additionally, Colleen has a two-day Contemporary Feltmaking Workshop scheduled for 30/31 January 2025 and you can enrol for this popular workshop here.

Colleen has exhibited her felt work nationally and internationally, with her work purchased by private collectors worldwide.  Her workshops will give you the knowledge, confidence and inspiration to use eco-dyeing and contemporary feltmaking techniques in your home environment.

Principals' Screen Printing Workshop

Judith Ritchie, based in Golden Bay, hosted a group of Nelson Tasman Principals at her screen-printing workshop in November.  The attendees had an inspiring creative experience in Judith’s relaxed Motupipi studio space and went home with some original screen printed designs. Thanks to the Hui for choosing NZ Textile Experiences. See photos below of time spent with Judith.

NZTE are happy to work with businesses, education related providers and community groups and put together bespoke workshops as needed.  A great way to team build, learn new skills and benefit health and wellbeing.

Judith has a variety of artisan workshops coming up in the New Year.  Your visitors will love the one-day workshops and make something they can take away to remind them of the time in Golden Bay/Tasman.  From preserving veges, making jams and screen printing - reserve a place here

Shoutout - Fibre Arts Australia
